Pavel & Jane Sinko
Serving with International Needs in Slovakia
Slovakia
Ministry
Pavel and Jane are ministering in their home country of Slovakia. Both of them were raised in Christian families. Pavel graduated in 1988 with a degree in electrical engineering and worked for a company near Lucenec in a managerial position until 1992, when he has a strong sense of being called to the work for the Lord fulltime. In January 1993, he was commissioned as a full time evangelist. He was involved in many evangelistic outreaches prior 1993, including a video evangelism campaign with the Billy Graham Crusade Association in 15 different towns and villages throughout Slovakia. He was working with high school students in the area, organizing evangelistic outreaches for the church, visiting and preaching.
Since 1997, he has been executive director of the IN Network in Slovakia. The IN ministry is expanding to include the support of national workers in evangelism and church planting (Pavel is personally involved in planting a church in a nearby town of Velky Krtis and ministry among Gypsies in Cinobana), the translating and publishing of Our Daily Bread in the Slovak language, the Christian Elementary School Narnia in Bratislava, the Comenius conference a retreat center in Rackova dolina, the Theological and Missionary Seminary of Evangelical Churches in Banska Bystrica, summer English camps for over 600 children, teenagers and adults each year, English clubs in Velky Krtis and the Community center 3Pe in Lucenec.
The varied ministries of the 3Pe Center are for children and youth (Awana club, teen’s club, tea house for youth, English clubs, discussion clubs,…), for women (mother’s club, English classes, ministry to unemployed women, small group Bible studies, discipleship ministry, and special evangelistic outreaches), for people with special needs (Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon family group, senior club, Gypsy ministry).
Jane is on staff leading the Mother's Club and the ministry to mothers with small children. They have three children, David born September 1995, Eunice, born March 1997, and Ester, born October 1999.
How to Pray for the Sinko's
1. Pray for wisdom , as well as strength, from the Lord to guide us as we bring up our children for Him. 2. Pray for God's leading in our ministries including the Community Center 3Pe in Lucenec and Gypsy ministry in Cinobana. Pray that many people will come to know Jesus as their person Savior. 3. Pray for resourses to finish the Comenius Conference and retreat Center .
Country Profile
Slovakia is a land locked republic in Central Europe. Slovakia has gone through 18 years of deep social and economic changes since the “velvet revolution” in 1989. The transformation process was marked by the peaceful, yet painful separation of Czechoslovakia, several major macro-economic difficulties, and periods of political instability. Finally the country found its way into full membership in the European Union and NATO in 2004, after a series of political and economic reforms. In the last 5 years Slovakia has enjoyed rapid economic growth in certain areas, and has become a popular destination for new foreign investment, thanks to an attractive 19% flat tax rate and low salary costs. Despite these encouraging developments, Slovakia still suffers from stubborn unemployment of 17%, as well as ongoing problems with corruption. Some communities (e.g. Roma - gypsy villages in Eastern Slovakia) are facing serious poverty issues.
About 68% of Slovaks are Roman Catholics. Protestant churches, including Lutheran Church, and the Reformed Christian Church, are also widely supported, claiming about 11 % of the population as members. Slovakia is a country where only less than 0.2% of the population is Evangelical Christians. Birthdays Pavel - 8/17/65 Jane - 9/05/70 David - 9/26/95 Eunice - 3/19/97 Ester - 10/10/99
