Power Through Weakness: Paul's understanding of the Christian ministry in 2 Corinthians
  by Dr. Tim Savage

Dr. Savage seeks to understand the apostle Paul's apparently contradictory description of his ministry in 2 Corinthians as one in which power is manifested through weakness: 'When I am weak, then I am strong!' This paradox becomes intelligible when it is understood that Paul's critics were influenced by a perspective which was the exact opposite of his: they imbibed the self-exalting outlook of their contemporary work, while he embraced the self-emptying gospel of Christ. Drawing from archaeological data on first-century Corinth, this study is unique in establishing both the secular underpinnings of Paul's paradoxical language and the devastating critique which that language offers on the general outlook of the first century. Paul emerges as a radical foil to the spirit  of the age.

Learning to Reflect: Daily Meditations on the Word of God
by Bryce Morgan "Learning to Reflect" is a collection of daily meditations on the word of God. In concert with a one-year reading plan of the Bible included in the book, each of these daily devotions challenges the reader to think more deeply about the message of a particular verse or passage and how that message should challenge not only the content of our minds and hearts, but the conduct of our lives as well. These thought-provoking meditations attempt to plumb the depths of a specific verse or passage in light of the bigger picture of who God is and what He desires to do in and through us. Through overhearing these ancient conversations between heaven and earth, we attempt to hear God's message for us today. As we, by grace, learn to reflect, and truly do reflect, upon the words of the divine Author, we will, at the same time, be learning to reflect His love and truth to the world.
