Isaiah 58

Serving in our world as Christ served in His
Is this not the fast which I chose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke? Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into the house; when you see the naked, to cover him; and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light will break out like the dawn, and your recovery will speedily spring forth; and your righteousness will go before you; the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
   Isaiah 58:6-8

“Isaiah 58” is a thrilling group of ministries designed to reach out to those in need, first within our church family, and then to the wider community in Phoenix. The goal of “Isaiah 58” is to show the glory of God to the world as the church obediently radiates His goodness in word and deed, resulting in the in-gathering of the lost, the maturing of the church, and the reviving of the cosmos.

Opportunities in “Isaiah 58” include the following:

Angel Tree: Christmas presents to children of prisoners

Benevolent Fund: material assistance to those in need in our body

Blood Mobile: provides a way for us to save lives in the community by donating blood

GriefShare: caring for those who have lost a loved one (see: www.cbcaz.org/links)

Meals for Crisis Pregnancies: meals for those in the midst of difficult pregnancies

Meals for Moms: meals for families welcoming a new baby

MealMakers: meals for families during crisis events

Neighborhood Ministries: serving alongside a church in a disadvantaged part of the city

Osborn Health and Rehab: worship services and love at a local nursing home

Wheels From Above: renovating wheelchairs for those who otherwise could not afford one

Widowed Ministry: serving those in our body who have lost their spouse

Fellowship Lunch

On the second Sunday of each month (except May, July and December) in the Fellowship Hall, plan on meeting after church to eat and fellowship in the Lord. Bring a side dish, salad, chips or dessert for 8 to the kitchen prior to the church service (lunch meat and bread or main entree provided).
