MINISTRY
Malcolm and Peggy, along with their children, ministered for seventeen years among the Digo tribe, an unreached people group living on the south coast of Kenya. The Hartnells worked as part of a church planting team and have seen several Christian congregations formed among the Digo. They also worked with an urban congregation in Mombasa, helping this church in its transition from missionary to national leadership.
In 1998, the Hartnells returned to the US for an extended period of time to address pressing family needs. For 2 years they were working among the international community in the Phoenix area and helping local churches develop a ministry to internationals. Malcolm now serves as an assistant professor of Intercultural Studies at Phoenix Seminary and as an international resource consultant with WorldVenture. Along with Peggy and their son, Colin, he spends four months each year in Kenya, East Africa, teaching at the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) as well as continuing to work with church planting teams among unreached people groups on the south coast of Kenya. The Hartnell's also spend four months each year in Turkey, assisting Turkish churches in their ministry.
How to Pray for the Hartnell's:
1. Pray for Malcom as he finishes work for his PH.D. in Intercultural Studies. The result of research will have an application to his ministry.
2. Pray that Peggy will continue to be used by the Lord as an effective witness in her work on the field.
3. Pray for Colin as he adjusts to life in America and how he may be used in the field.
4. Pray for Katie and Michael, her husband, as they will be separated during his deployment. Also pray for both of their health.
5. Pray that all the students enrolled in intercultural studies courses will catch God's vision for outreach, both locally and globally.
