Dr. Thomas N. Bookhout, Pastor of Music Ministries

Tom has served at Camelback since 2003, having moved here from New York State where he had been headmaster of a Christian school and was Director of the Taghkanic Chorale. Tom was born in upstate New York, where his parents and extended family still live. Tom and his wife Jeanne, married in 1986, have three wonderful children: Katrina,Tracy and Matthew, who attend Arizona State University, Whitworth University and Christ Lutheran School, respectively. Matthew is the only "native" Arizonan of the family, born in Phoenix when Tom was a student at ASU.

At CBC, Tom pastors the music ministries. He conducts the Sanctuary Choir and the Camelback Singers, supports the leadership of all music ensembles, assists the Senior Pastor with the planning of worship services, and ministers to members serving in such diverse areas as ushering, greeting and audio ministry.

Formerly, Tom has been Director of Choral Activities at the University of Charleston (WV), Chorusmaster of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Director of Music at The Stony Brook School on Long Island, and the head teaching assistant for ASU’s choral program. He earned his DMA in choral music from ASU, his MM in choral conducting from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, and his BMus in music education from Houghton College (NY).
